6 arm table base
Conceived, designed and first built in 1989 the 6 arm base is also the first among a number of distinct table base designs I have developed and built.
When realized in stainless steel, this timeless design is impervious to the ravages of time and weather. Also available in cold drawn carbon steel.
The combination of a finely sculpted, delicately proportioned yet intrinsically strong stainless steel base and a glass top creates a functional jewel….a coffee table.
A 6 feet diameter 45 pounds base that is by the reason of its fully triangulated space frame design capable of carrying a ton – yes 2000 pounds of weight will easily carry a granite, marble, glass, wood, concrete, metal or a composite 8 feet diameter top to form an exquisite conference table.
Regardless of the kind of steel used in its construction the base is welded from 30 rods of various diameters and 12 balls into a seamless monolithic sculpture which is thoroughly detailed and finished. In a respect to its aesthetic qualities and as a testimony to the craftsmanship, the metal is left in its natural state of color and waxed.
Threaded holes in the ball ends of the base 6 arms serve as attachment points for hardware that is designed to adapt the 6 arm base for a desired purpose.
The design of the base is conceived to allow for the placing at the center of the base a removable tripod designed to facilitate the installation of a top that consists of multiple elements. This feature is optional and intended primarily for very large dining and conference tables.
Will custom build a base for a top of virtually any size, weight and material.
